Since breaking up in 2005, Busted are back with all three members- James Bourne, Matt Willis and Charlie Simpson- for a brand new tour. With the success of their reunion tour ‘Pigs Can Fly’ in 2016, the boys have been preparing for their new tour ‘Night Driver’.
It all started off with a bang as it felt like the floor exploded from all the screaming fans. They started with the first song of the tour, ‘Kids with Computers’ and from the reaction of the fans, it felt like they had never been away.
Even though this tour was based upon their new album ‘Night Driver’, it was a pleasure for all the older fans to hear the classic Busted songs that we have all grown up listening to. Of course I’m talking about Year 3000 and Air Hostess. I have to say, without a doubt, these were the most successful songs of the night. Everybody was up on their feet singing and dancing along to these two.
The tour date that I saw was the Newport show on 9th February. I was really surprised that Busted would be playing in Newport when the capital of Wales, Cardiff, is about 20 minutes away. They would get a much bigger audience there.
One of the songs from the night was a song from their new album called ‘New York’. Considering the fact they were playing in Newport, it was appropriate for them to change the lyric from ‘New York’ to ‘Newport’. To say that everyone in the venue was ecstatic is an understatement.
For James and Matt, touring this time around must have felt like second nature to them as they were touring with the McFly boys for two years in 2013 and 2014. This was for the epic super group that was McBusted. I bet Charlie is regretting his decision in not coming back for that little reunion. It was a massive success.
The boys kept saying to their fans “same time next year”, meaning they are not going anywhere anytime soon. I will be waiting for their next tour announcement and booking more tickets, so I can experience it all again.
