Is that love in the air? Or the temperature finally rising above freezing? With Valentine’s day just around the corner I’ve got some fab ideas for what to do this month. Whether you want to surround yourself in hearts and flowers or want to curl up alone with just Netflix and cheap chocolate for company. It sickens some and is adored by others, the day celebrating St Valentine has taken over the month of February with gifts, romantic activities and dinner dates become compulsory of a couple of the 14th of each month.
My plan for the 14th is to head to M&S and pick up on of their ready made meal deals for two and hide away from the commercial madness. But if you fancy a romantic meal out in then Cheltenham is the place to be. The heart of eating out has hundreds of places to eat and here are some of the V-Day deals to choose from.
Hillside Brewery are pulling out all the stops with a three course meal for just £35, experience a moroccan starter, a tasty “Beer-Guigion” or roasted root vegetable and a decadent trio of chocolate desserts to finish off. The DoubleTree hotel in Cheltenham provide beautiful surroundings and exquisite three course meal along with a bottle of bubbly and a box of chocolates. Other romantic destinations include The Daffodil, Lumiere and L’Artisan, all of which are providing incredible Valentines Day experiences. Contact them directly for more information.
If you aren’t hungry then may I suggest a night out at the theatre – what other half wouldn’t be impressed with such a high brow date. Kicking off the month at the Cheltenham Everyman is Flashdance with Joanna Clifton running until the 3rd. Then closely followed by Quartet which falls over Valentines Day (8th – 17th) and is an Everyman original production. Closing the month is Birdsong from the 19th to the 24th, the critically acclaimed show based around love, bravery and the Great War and promises for a heart warming and a tear jerking show.
Also a special mention to the Owl event at ICBP Newent where you are taken on a torchlight tour of their grounds after a champagne and chocolates reception. Then it only gets better with a night time owl display as they fly around their natural habitat. A truly magical experience.
It also seems that February seems to be the month of beer. With not only the Hillside Brewery Beer Valentines meal but also Cheltenham beery walking tour, Cheltenham microbrewery tour and other ‘Brewed for you’ beer events. Check out www.visitcheltenham.co.uk for more information.
So whether you end up drowning your sorrows in a beer tasting or celebrating with champagne with your other half, may your February be full of love and loved ones.
